- Cutimed® Sorbact® advanced wound dressing is an innovative approach to reduce bioburden in wounds without using chemically active agents.
- Instead, it is a bacteria and microbe binding dressing that is coated with DACC (dialkylcarbamoyl chloride), a highly hydrophobic fatty acid derivative which wound pathogens bind to.
- In an aqueous environment, wound bacteria and fungi are naturally drawn to the hydrophobic surface of the Cutimed ®Sorbact® dressing.
- Through a physical mode of action, bacteria and microbes irreversibly bind to the Cutimed® Sorbact® dressing and become inert, where they lose their ability to reproduce or release harmful and malodorous toxins into the wound bed.
- The bound pathogens are removed with each dressing change, which helps clean contaminated, colonized, and infected wounds by reducing the overall bacterial load.
