Product Development

From industrial design to app-connected medical devices — we take ideas from concept sketch to commercial launch.

Beyond distributing medical devices, Collateral Medical is also home to ColMed Healthtech — a product development venture incubated at SINE, IIT Bombay — building original medical devices from early-stage concept through to commercialization. Our product development work spans hepatology, respiratory, dermatology and phototherapy, ophthalmology, musculoskeletal health, wound care, and pediatrics neurodevelopment.

Industrial & IDC Design

Product design led with IDC, IIT Bombay design sensibilities — from ergonomics and form factor to the overall user experience of a medical device.

Technology & Engineering

Deep technical development across the full product stack — engineering a device that is reliable, manufacturable, and clinically sound, not just a working prototype.

IT & Backend Infrastructure

Secure, standards-based backend infrastructure so devices and their data integrate cleanly with clinical and health-record systems.

Connected Apps

Companion mobile and web apps that put device data in the hands of patients and clinicians, turning a standalone device into a connected care experience.

Our approach

Our approach combines design-led product thinking with rigorous engineering, IP, and regulatory strategy — every product is built with a clear path to patent protection and commercial deployment, not just a working prototype.

Research and clinical partnerships

We work with academic and clinical partners including CSIR-CEERI and institutions such as ILBS to validate device performance and clinical relevance early in development, and our SINE IIT Bombay incubation provides access to institutional research infrastructure and early-stage funding networks.

From concept to market

Our distribution arm, Collateral Medical, gives every product we develop a direct path into India's medical device market — pairing product development with the regulatory, manufacturing, and distribution infrastructure needed to actually bring a device to patients and providers, rather than leaving it at the prototype stage.

Who this is for

Clinicians, researchers, and innovators with a medical device concept who need a partner that can take it from early design through engineering, IP protection, regulatory approval, and commercial launch.
